After not doing so for over ten years, the Society unfortunately finds it necessary to make a slight increase in subscription payments for the coming year. We have this week written to all members to inform them, and the full text of the letter can be read here. The new rates will be £29 for individuals, and £35 for households and institutions.
We are very sorry to have to apply this increase but, as I’m sure you are aware, costs for almost have risen to an extraordinary degree recently – and we are no longer able to support our member activities (lectures, excursions, conferences and publications) solely from the income raised from subscriptions. At present, we are using interest from our investments to subsidise our activities, and that is obviously not a guaranteed income year-on-year. The Society has also always intended that we should use that income to support the grant making programme; for instance our recent support of the Caistor Roman Project and the Later Prehistoric Norfolk Project, or by funding the scientific dating of Bylaugh church tower.
We hope that members and prospective members will understand the need for this change. Full details of our income and expenditure are available in the Trustees Annual Report and Accounts, which are available in the AGM papers here.
